The problem behind the brief
EU AI Act readiness involves unfamiliar terminology, evolving obligations and evidence scattered across teams. The product needed to guide non-specialists without presenting automated output as certification or legal advice.
A controlled workspace leads teams through system inventory, exposure screening, classification, obligation planning, evidence collection, supplier assurance and specialist review. Complex compliance work is broken into understandable decisions with clear ownership.
The design decision
Make a decision reviewable, not simply complete.
EU AI Fit organises work around systems, responsibilities, evidence and human review. We kept the distinction between recording evidence and approving a conclusion visible in the interface. That is a product-design choice as well as a permissions and data-modelling decision.
The trade-off to examine
Keeping evidence submission separate from review introduces another step, but preserves the distinction between a contributor's claim and a reviewer's decision. Evaluate whether the owner, supporting record and review status remain understandable together. A completed software workflow is not a guarantee of legal compliance.
