The problem behind the brief
Learners can wait months for a practical test, while paid resellers and cancellation services may charge substantial fees or request sensitive information. A useful alternative needed a large enough matching pool without turning learner data into the product.
MoveMyTest is built around direct learner-to-learner matching. Secure accounts, structured test listings, test-centre discovery, mutual acceptance and consent-controlled booking-reference sharing support the journey while leaving the official exchange with DVSA.
The design decision
Compatibility is not consent.
MoveMyTest distinguishes finding a possible exchange from both learners agreeing to proceed. Matching, agreement and information sharing are separate decisions. We designed the interface around that distinction so a useful suggestion does not silently become permission to share someone’s details.
The trade-off to examine
Automatically revealing details when a match is found would shorten the journey, but would conflate compatibility with permission. The additional agreement step is deliberate. Evaluate what happens when either learner declines, not just the successful path; the service coordinates a possible exchange rather than changing a DVSA booking itself.

What we built
A standalone public service with its own brand, database and authenticated learner experience—offering a transparent route to test-date swaps without subscription fees, resale margins or advertising.
The matching logic evaluates both sides of a proposed exchange, including preferred dates, centres and compatibility. Agreement and consent are separate steps after a potential match is found.
